On Wednesday Feb. 20th Cast A presented a little taste of their culture with each other and their host families in the annual “Culture Jam” celebration. We had 18 groups of students representing 15 different countries. They performed songs, dances, skits and even artwork from their cultures!
Culture Jam serves as a first look at the diversity that each member of this group brings to Cast A. For some students, this is their very first taste of a certain culture, one that they will be sharing their own lives with for the next 5 months. Culture Jam gives each student the opportunity to show their new friends a little bit about where they come from as well as many of the talents each student brings to the group! And Cast A is nothing short of a talented group of people.
Check out some pictures of Cast A in Culture Jam:
Tiffany Bahnimptewa, from the Hopi Nation performs a traditional Hopi song accompanied by a slide show of pictures from her culture.
Linn Christine Flø, from Norway, performs a traditional Norwegian song complete with traditional costume
Juri Nakagawa, from Japan, performs a traditional dance from her culture
Nynne Mors, from Denmark, draws a real time picture for the audience
Francisco de Courville, from Quebec, Canada, plays Flamenco on his classical guitar
The Culture Jam was a huge success, congratulations to all the students who performed and thank you to everyone who helped make it a success! That’s all from Cast A 2010 Culture Jam. You can be sure that the sharing of culture doesn’t end here, keep checking back to follow Cast A through their journeys this semester.
