So proud of you my friend – I can think of no one that is more qualified for the position of Cast Manager. You hold the same beliefs in people and what the UWP experience should be, as your Dad did many years ago. Always remember UWP is a “People Organization” and that is where its power lies. Believe in your cast and people in it that make it the unique touring group that will touch the lives of so many on the road. As an “old” alumni, that still believes in the power of what UWP can do – one-to-one and in the community, I am living proof of what your cast members can experience and become, even decades after their tour ends. I wish so much that I could visit and meet your cast – I am sure they will be amazing – partially from the fact that you will be the Cast Manager. Safe travels and know there are people out there that believe in you!! Til our Roads Come Together once again –

I’d be curious to find info. I was a member of Up With People Sing OUt Brooklyn back in 1968 and 1969. I remember we used to audition at St Savior’s Church in Brooklyn NY. Anyone have any info???

Dear Yunus, Dear readers,

Thank you for your questions and concerns.

As you know, Up with People is a combination of different components, what makes the program an unique opportunity.

The show itself represents an important component because brings a differential to the program. Through the show, Up with People have a very strong communication tool to engage the local community. This show happens one time per city visited and is a chance to support local projects with money (show revenue) and also bringing attention to the community to their own issues.

On the education perspective, the show is a component that can help you to learn important soft skills like public speaking, team work, communication, confidence…

In an overall perspective, the show component might represent 1/5 of your UWP experience; together with the global education curriculum, the volunteer work, the world travel and the diversity immersion. But as Alison said it can be as big as you wish! One of the greatest opportunities in UWP is that you are also responsible for your own experience. Through different team projects, individual initiatives, internships and assistantships, every participant have the chance to explore their potentials and learn skills in a broad rage of areas: from business to performing arts.
